Mold or webs?

Not sure if I should be worried about this growing on the top of my plant soil. I did add peat moss in my soil mix. Could that be the cause of this? #HappyPlants #help #RexBegonia #PlantsMakePeopleHappy

That looks like mold to me. Either one is bad. One is a fungal infection, one is spider mites. But in my experience, spider mites don’t make webs quite this dense usually. There are copper fungicide sprays that work pretty well, but if it’s this heavy, I would recommend dumping that soil, spraying the entire plant with peroxide to kill any spores or other microorganisms, and repot in fresh dry soil. Not sure what the pot situation is, but they need drainage and a soil mix that drains well, but also retains some moisture. If you google “best soil for rex begonia” you’ll find some good options. I hope this helps, and truly, be thankful it’s not spider mites… they are the devil and have killed 3 of my plants 🥲 a good thing for prevention of issues in the future would be this spray. I use it as a preventative thing once a week or so, just to help my plants stay healthy.
I'm not 100, but I think it's a webbing. It could be mold, but when I had mold, it didn't look like a web. I'm sure someone else will know better than me.
Forgot to add that when you repot, it’s a good time to check the roots. If the soil was saturated enough to grow mold, there is a high chance there is also some root rot. If any roots are mushy and black, trim them and again, spray with peroxide. Lmk if you have any questions, and sorry for the book, I just like to give all the pertinent information! 😊
Mold. How humid and hot is that? Peat moss will totally hold moisture & add heat & like, one wandering spore and that’s the perfect storm
I'd bet on the peat moss holding moisture and creating mold. Scrape the top off and use some copper fungicide
I’ve had some experience with mold on top of my soil. Ground Cinnamon is what I used since I didn’t have anything else on hand at the time. I scraped most of it off and sprinkled some cinnamon on the soil and kept an eye on it.
