Curling leaves with browning!

I’m new with plants and bought a pothos as my first plant thinking it would be easy… but she’s struggling!! there’s 3 separate plants in this pot, one plant is doing great, another one has a single leaf that is browning and curling around the edges, and the other plant only has one leaf which is also browning and curling. what should I do?? #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #Pothos #SatinPothos
1ft to light, direct
6” pot with drainage
Last watered 1 week ago
Can you tell us how much light it’s getting, what type of soil it’s in, and how often you’re watering?
@MamaLinne yes!! it’s getting bright indirect sunlight, and i move it away from the window when the harsh sun comes in to prevent leaf burning. The soil is a basic houseplant soil, i think the brand is miracle grow, and im watering around once a week !
@hannahmay it might staying too wet. Miracle grow is kind of notorious for that. Are you waiting until it’s almost completely dry to water?
@MamaLinne i think that might be my issue! I thought I was waiting long enough in between watering, but i’m probably watering too often πŸ˜† I appreciate your help!!
Mine has browning leaves too and I didn’t water her until she was dry, everything could’ve been done right for this plant… she had mealy bugs 😞😞 I just repotted her and I hope she’s gonna do better!! Good luck with yours!! Check just in case! They were hard to spot
@SuppleCigartree you could be right because not even an hour ago I found a mealy bug on another plant I brought home a week ago! 😭 Did a full inspection on all my plants and didn’t find any more! hoping we’re in the clear 🀞🏻
@hannahmay for all of my plants, I only use 25-30% potting mix, and then mix in 30% orchid bark and 30% perlite. This allows for airflow and faster drying so the roots don’t sit wet and suffocate. I water when they’re almost completely dry and really soak them until water is running out of the drainage holes, then let them sit in a saucer of that water for about 30-60 min, then pour that out. Don’t water again until dry- usually a couple of weeks! If you don’t want to mix your own, you can always buy a good chunky mix like Molly’s aroid mix.
@MamaLinne Amazing!! I’ll take a look at that chunky soil you mentioned!!
@hannahmay And in terms of ease, these are actually not Pothos (despite their name), they’re a Scindapsus which I think are a bit more fussy than true Pothos, so don’t feel bad! You’ve got this πŸ™Œ
@debbiedo oh that is great to know!! I had no idea! thank you for all your help ☺️
I would consider downsizing the pot too when you change the soil
@Thrivingish okay!! what size should I go to?
