Lotus, anyone?
Has anyone on here tried growing lotus before? I've gotten mine to sprout. Now I'm just hoping I can get them growing even more. Any tips? #lotus #aquaticplants #plantsmakepeoplehappy

Plant them in a 20cmĆ nursery pot with an organic clay-based compost. Not too deep, the top of the bulbs should be just below the surface. Place this in a larger, waterproof pot [preferably glazed ceramic, to withstand water pressure. An aquarium can do too], about 35cm, with the same medium in it. Raise the pot with bricks or an inverted pot such that the bulbs are less than 10cm from the surface. Make sure it gets as much sun as possible, like, 4-6hrs to induce good growth and flowering. Dose the water with BTI to prevent mosquitoes. It's best to give them their own pot, as if kept together it might cause overcrowding. An overcrowded lily or lotus will not flower
@wolfqueen I thought they had to be pinned to the soil under water? Am I wrong in that?
