Sticky sap
Found some sticky sap where the leaf meets the stem and thought it was very odd. There's been leaf damage to all of the leaves and its been happening practically since I got it. Not sure why or how. It dropped 2 leaves soon after I got it and so I moved it to a different spot and now the leaves are looking like a caterpillar is eating it. It had 2 leaves left that were growing strong but then a new leaf started coming out and one of the leaves started dieing as that was happening. Now that leaf is dead and a new leaf is almost fully formed and the other leaf looks fine. The stems on both are strong, firm, and green but I am noticing some tiny brown spots under the leaves and just one spot with that sap. Its a very small area. Nothing I noticed on the steams or the tops of the leaves. Hope somebody can tell me what's going on and what I can do!
Also, noticed the fungus gnats on my baby pygmy palm moved over to my alocasia somehow after sprinkling some cinnamon over the top of the soil on the pygmy palm. They are both indoors but are in different rooms. Not sure how to moved to my alocasia or why. I can just sprinkle cinnamon over the top of the soil again and do more if needed but I'm more worried about the other issue that I'm not sure what it is.
Thanks!

Wow that was a mouthful. Just saw your reply didnt even know somebody had replied I appreciate your response. I have been checking my plants like crazy and haven't found anything except for a mealybug infestation on my jade pothos which did come from a different person than my alocasia. My alocasia is next to my philodendrons and they get humidity and misting almost every day although I have been missing quite a few days recently but I was reading at least on this app that apparently alocasias dont need any humidity or misting which is contrary to what I've found on Google. Anyway, I did find sap on my florida green philodendron which as I said is sitting next to my alocasia but I cant seem to find any bug of any sort. Im still new to this whole planting thing. I covered the tops of both plants with a somewhat thick (not very thick) layer of sand to prevent fruit flies from continuing to populate and it kind of worked but not really. I was reading that the fungus gnats aren't very harmful to plants but they have been getting on my nerves just because I think its a natural human reaction to not like bugs in general especially ugly flying ones and because I see them as a threat to my plants, using them as a home. Sorry got a bit sidetracked but yeah I have been less bothered by them overall with each plant I've covered in sand and thing maybe theyre dieing and thats why theyre trying to find any plant they can as a home. Besides that, my neem plant seems to have scale but im not completely sure because it could be a normal plant thing. But the neem plant is on its own in the corner of the room. And my jade pothos was always by itself just by happenstance he's in a cubby by himself I recently just took about 7 cotton swabs to him and cleaned him out of any white furry substance I could find on him with rubbing alcohol. None of my other plants seem to have been affected.
My alocasia is looking the same. New leaf is coming out. The markings left on the leaves are strange I've looked up pictures of people with pests and couldn't really see what the pest could be if it even is a pest causing the damage. Could be a fungus which I have no idea about even more than the pests at this point. Anyway, still grateful somebody took the time out of their life to comment on my post! Im new to this app and im not sure how long I'll stay but it was/is worth adding my plants and just poking around in the community and looking at different pictures and different plants and reading other people's stories with the same plant.
I also like having the different sources to go off of for all the dare guidelines. I've been following lowes and Google when I need to for the most part im getting more into this app now but I like to expand my horizons so as a new planter I think I'll keep them open for now until I dont need them anymore.
