How often do I need to water this plant?

2” pot
Last watered 3 years ago
I don’t water my jade very often at all probably a little over 2 weeks
Whenever it dries out, they’re very tolerant of that
Depends on the soil, the lighting and your location in the world at the moment. Succulents really only need watering when the leaves are not firm, but the soil also needs to he able to drain and dry quickly to avoid root rot. They are also full sun plants, so do best outside to avoid etiolation (lengthening of the stem and further spacing between leaves), but to also maintain their colour nicely
Are you sure that's a Jade? Doesn't look anything like any of the Jade plants I have... πŸ€” But yeah generally with succulents every couple weeks or when the leaves start to wrinkle is enough water.
If the leaves start turning translucent tho that means too much water. Just a heads up...
@kscape @vvvelo what do y'all think? I'm pretty sure this is not a Jade, but no clue what it actually is...
This looks like it’s a Pachyveria 'Glauca' otherwise known as β€œlittle jewel”. It is very drought tolerant but pay attention to the wellness of the plant itself instead of keeping a strict watering schedule. Since it is in such a tiny pot it will dry out much quicker than if it was in a 3 inch diameter, so keep an eye on it and look into watering needs for little jewels
@WickedValkyrie it looks like a little jewel to me definitely not a jade
I agree with @jordansage. It’s a Pachyveria Gauca, usually don’t water mine for 9-12 days, but with how small the pot is, it seems like you’ll have the same watering schedule. From the looks of it, your baby looks like it’s doing good so far and doesn’t need watering yet. If Greg suggests watering, snooze it and come back to it when it’s thirsty!

The way you can tell if your plant is thirsty is if the leaves start to get wrinkly and slightly squishy. When this occurs, make sure to water until you see it coming out of the bottom drainage holes 😊🌿

Welcome to Greg, by the way! @AproposBaibua πŸ’š @WickedValkyrie
@kscape thanks for the response lovey πŸ™
@WickedValkyrie Of course 🀍🀍
