@Elvawenn Yellow and brown leaves on your blushing philodendron could indicate a few different issues. While you're watering every 6 days, it's important to remember that watering frequency should be based on the moisture level of the soil rather than a fixed schedule. Overwatering can lead to root rot, which can cause yellowing and browning of leaves. First, check the soil moisture before watering again. Stick your finger about an inch into the soil. If it feels moist, it's best to hold off on watering until the top inch of soil is dry. Also, make sure the pot has proper drainage. Since your plant is outdoors, consider environmental factors. If the plant is getting too much direct sunlight, it might be causing sunburn, which can result in brown patches on the leaves. Try moving the plant to a spot with filtered sunlight. Lastly, keep an eye on the new leaf that recently unfurled. If it looks healthy and vibrant, it might just be natural leaf shedding that's causing the yellowing on the older leaves. Trim off any severely affected leaves to encourage new growth. Observing the plant's response to adjustments in watering and light conditions will give you a better idea of the cause and help you fine-tune its care routine.
@JungleDreamer that is so helpful! Thanks! I'll keep a closer eye on it.
Hi Annette! I can see exactly what the issue is- Thatβs a Prince of Orange Philo and they have SUPER shallow roots. That pot is way too big for their root system. Because the pot is too big, Greg is probably advising you to water too much (and itβs holding that water in the bottom 2β of the potted dirt because the roots donβt go that deep.) I would definitely repot in a much smaller pot with well draining chunky soil and only water when the top is dry up to your knuckle. For reference here is my prince of orange- heβs been in that 4β pot for months and is nowhere near ready to pot up. Good luck!
@LauraLynne Interesting! My Prince of Orange is a recent buy and that's the pot that came with it. I'll definitely replant it - because it's also a plastic pot and it doesn't drain as well. Thanks for your input! Your Prince of Orange is gorgeous! The leaves are much darker green than mine. π
