Why did he explode?

Looks like I got some kind of rot? Can I save him? What do I do? There are little buds on on one stem. More pics in his gallery

Ah! This would probably be due to overwatering. Succulents often don’t need water for weeks at a time, and rot would indicate it’s been given water too often. Saving it depends on how bad the rot is, if it’s just in the roots then the plant can be taken out, trim the rotten roots and let it dry before repotting it into dry soil, but if the root is up the stems and leaves, it can be harder to recover. Got all the soil spread out to dry. One shoot was a goner, but trying to save the other two. Going to give it two days for the stems to scab then repot and try again.
