I have ants! Seeking advice

Annual ‘Plants to the sunroom’ day happened this weekend, with new (to-me) shelves I brought up from the basement. More surface area = More Plants outside.

I now sit here watching ants scurry around and am terrified! Traps vs Sprays? Plant friendly sprays? Will my plant soap work against these? #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #HappyPlants #PestControl #
Mix vinegar and water half and half in a spray bottle. It smells but not forever...it disorients the ants as they lose their trails they mark with pheromones. It's safe and not a harsh chemical insecticide...just don't get it on your plant leaves. It's what I use in my greenhouse and it works super well. Once a week as a preventative, I spray around the outside and I never see ants.
Do what Rob suggested, I also bottom water my plants so the top soil stays dry and sprinkle cinnamon on the top of the soil. You can use DE (diatomaceous earth) as well but with DE you only want to use it in situations where you won't be breathing it in. DE can be used around the porch, doorways, windows.... itself to repell lots and lots of bugs. Like cinnamon it's only effective as long as it's dry.
If you have pest such as scales or mealy bugs, the ants will absolutely farm them on your plants, move them around (happened to me) and keep them safe and cozy. I use traps indoors that you can find at walmart and it works great.
I assume it wouldn’t be any different outside
