It could be a number of things. What kind of soil is Wall-E in? From the photo it looks like there is preserved moss on top of the soil—is that just sitting on top, or is it glued down? How often and how much have you been watering?
@ESylvanus the soil is the what I bought it in so I’m not sure to be honest. The moss on top can be pulled off if need be. I water as Greg tells me to unless I notice that he is really dry like he was tonight. He is in a grower’s pot inside of the ceramic pot so I water him until the water runs thru.
@WeLovePlants I would check on the soil, then. A lot of places put bonsai in regular potting soil, but they really do best in bonsai soil. This is because the roots of the plant are trimmed to keep the plant smaller, but that makes them more susceptible to root rot. Bonsai soil drains really well, which helps keep the roots healthy, with the only downside being that they should be watered much more frequently (mine are watered every day or every other day, depending on the season).
