Why is ny Jellybean Plant's stem like this?
I'm not seeing/smelling any root rot. Also, for all these plants I bought from Home Depot, the soil is dry and clinging to the plant, what's going on and what should I do?
2β pot with drainage

@SparklyGreenash Okay, will keep in mind! Should I put it in sunlight directly after repotting?
@LittleSongbird You want to do it slowly. Otherwise it might burn since itβs not use to the sun.
I have this problem with plants that I get from Home Depot. I learned that if you donβt strip that soil and give it a good root bath and loosen it up that basically the plant wonβt get any nutrients or water because that so itβs pretty much compacted or hydrophobic most the time. I would take it out and carefully separate the dirt from the roots and then give it a little bit of a soak, and then replant it.
@TidyTigerpear Is it possible to just replace the soil? How long do I soak it?
I didnβt do this when I first started getting plants and I would just put them in the pot thinking it was less work for me, not think of it much of it but in the long run itβs not good for the plant. It canβt absorb anything and will end up killing the plant. A majority of plants Iβve gotten from Home Depot have this problem but itβs fixable and makes me happy knowing they are in a better home
@LittleSongbird do you mean like just throw some soil on top of it? Or what do you mean ? I would completely ditch the soil it came with, and repot into new. I wouldnβt soak it for too long, just until it absorbs the water, basically when the roots arenβt being compacted by the soil.
@TidyTigerpear I meant replace the soil completely lol, so ty!
Also, taking another look at that stem at the very bottom, it looks like it may have began to rot and started recovering but overtime itβs not strong enough to keep the plant alive, and will continue to get weaker and the plant will take less nutrients over time, and then eventually it will die. You could cut that part off and prop the other piece. οΏΌ
