Zeus who knew you were an orange tree!

Hi OTL (orange tree lovers) so this strong young man has been something my mother wanted for a long time! An orange tree! I think if she would’ve known Zeus was one she would’ve probably lived a little long🥹 but we’re going to see him do what he can do! Community please provide me insight on what’s a good fertilizer and how much to use on him? I look forward to the knowledge

This baby orange tree “Zeus” looks healthy and full of potential—but let’s give him the best shot at thriving. Here’s how to help him grow strong, especially since he’s in a small 2” pot and getting direct light.

⸻

🧪 Best Fertilizer for a Young Potted Orange Tree:

Look for a balanced citrus fertilizer or a general-purpose fertilizer with:
• N-P-K ratio around 5-5-5 or 10-10-10
• Or something citrus-specific like Espoma Citrus-Tone (5-2-6) or Miracle-Gro Citrus, Avocado, & Mango Food (8-2-10)

⸻

🌱 How to Use It for Zeus:
1. Tiny Dose
In a 2” pot, start with ¼ strength of the recommended dose. Example:
• If it says 1 tsp per gallon, give Zeus ¼ tsp mixed in water once a month.
2. Water-Soluble Preferred
Use a diluted liquid feed so nutrients are more easily absorbed by young roots.
3. When to Feed
• Feed once every 3–4 weeks during spring and summer.
• Pause feeding in winter unless Zeus is under grow lights and actively growing.

⸻

🪴 Bonus Tips:
• Repot soon into a 4–6” pot. That 2” container will quickly restrict root growth.
• Mix in cactus or citrus soil for better drainage.
• Ensure he’s in 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily.
@SvelteShangrila Thank you so much great feedback! Zeus is planted in the front yard. Would these tips still work
