Should I thin my basil plant?

I’ve been growing this basil from seed for a few months now and have already thinned all but three because this pot isn’t very big (2 inches). The pot seems pretty stuffy again. Should I remove the 2 smaller plants or should I let it be? Also should I prune the two small sprout leaves?
Your basil will do best in the ground or in a larger pot. Because they will grow fast and that amount of room will allow them to do that. They will do best outside in full sun. Yes, trim the top but to discourage flowering and force more growth, it will be denser.
@calvina is right. You can also leaf the sprout leaves alone. They'll help the plant and when the plant no longer needs them, they'll wither away.
