I think your plant is a monstera deliciosa instead of a Chinese Taro. Also did the plant already have that damage when you got it? It doesn’t look new. I would consider repotting her in a chunkier soil with more aeration which you can do by adding perlite and/or orchid bark and mixing it into the new soil before repotting. Now is a great time to repot as it is the beginning of spring.
