Water it thoroughly let it drain thoroughly and then don’t water it again until it’s dry. Don’t worry as much about the amount because if you let it drain, what it ￼doesn’t need, it will pass through.  Never let it sit in water.

I just bought a sand rose and I read that you have to water it a little bit and then let it drain so it isn’t a big worry about the amount of water
