Why is she doing this? #Dieffenbachia

I repotted my dieffenbachia about 3 weeks ago. It’s at work, so the first weekend after I came in to about 3 yellow leaves. I thought, maybe my soil to chunky mix ratio was off, so I added soil to it last week. I came in today and found 5 more yellow leaves and some turning color like the picture below. I don’t see any pests. Should I down size the pot? What could the issue be? 😩
4” pot with drainage
Last watered 3 months ago

@WonderWoman13 That is a fungal attack. I had the same variety of Dieffenbachia. It is susceptible to fungal attacks. I bought organic anti-fungal sprays that worked temporarily. The fungus would return within 2-3 months. Left untreated, it will spread to other plants, especially in the Dieffenbachia family. I would isolate it and generously spray it for fungus. I’d also perform a preventative spray every 1-2 months. Good luck πŸ™πŸΎ
@WonderWoman13 Hi Tyeasha, there can be a number of causes of this yellowing but I usually start with a consideration of the water. Is it hard water or likely to have minerals in it as often this type of spot (brown with yellow edges) can indicate a water issue.
It could also be due to the watering schedule so is the plant being over or underwatered? To avoid this, check the top inches of the soil with eg a skewer for moisture levels.
Here's some guides and a video of other potential causes. I hope this helps answer your question. All the best πŸ‘

Got it. I only use filtered water so I don’t think it’s the quality. Maybe under watering, but I don’t see how I could be losing so many leaves each week still watering it. Could it be a reaction to the pot size?
@iWhilby2021 ahhhhh that makes sense. I found alot of stuff on Google that validates this too. Apparently it’s a common problem in difenbachias which explains ALOT. THANK YOU!!
Also, be aware of repotting shock. It usually occurs when you fully repot a plant by washing off all the old soil from the roots. So the roots need time to adjust to the new soil, it should return to normal in a few months.
@Diospectre thank you!
Your baby is adjusting to all the changes so be prepared for it to show off yelling yellow leaves dropping until it comfortable so be patient with your baby πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’š
@WonderWoman13 I am looping back to check on you and your plant. Any improvement?
@iWhilby2021 thank you so much for checking back in! The yellowing and dead leaves has seemed to stop. I did spray her down a 2nd treatment today just in case. The rings don’t seem to be getting bigger & I don’t see any new ones so I guess that indeed was the issue. Thanks again!
Awesome!! She appears to be healthy! πŸ‘πŸΎπŸ‘πŸΎ once per month, I'd give her a preventative treatment. All the best!!!
