How to change the water

#Dracaena I was told that on top of watering it that I’d have to switch out the water every now and then to keep it clean. How would I go about this? Would I have to remove the rocks and plant? How do I get rid of any gunk or bacteria? Should I switch out the rocks? I want to make sure my plant stays healthy
4ft to light, indirect
4” pot with drainage
Last watered 6 days ago

@KnightCatnip It's not necessary to remove the rocks. This is how I do mine. Put your hand over the top of the glass stabilizing the stem with your fingers and gently pour the water out making sure the rocks don't fall out like @Boymom-plantmom said. I then will run some water into the jar allowing it to overflow into the sink or wherever you are changing the water at just to flush all the old water and possible algae out of the jar. I will put my hand over the jar again to empty out the water. You don't have to get all of the water out but the majority of it, then I will take some hydrogen peroxide and spray the roots on the inside of the jar and then fill it the rest of the way up with distilled water. Place it somewhere it can get bright indirect light until it's time to change the water again. πŸ˜πŸ‘
Hey Riley! Just went the water starts to look yucky just dump the water and replace. You shouldn’t have to dump the rocks out! I just hold the top so only the water comes out.
