Weird White Growths on My Zig-Zag Cactus—What Gives?

I recently got my first zig-zag cactus, and it’s been chillin’ in my office. But I just noticed these weird white growths on the stems, and I’m stumped.

At first, I panicked and thought mealybugs (especially since I’m currently dealing with a mealybug situation on my prayer plant in the bathroom—send help), BUT these don’t seem like that. No cottony texture, no sticky residue, and no bugs crawling around.

So now I’m wondering:
• Aerial roots doing their thing?
• Mineral buildup from watering?
• Or… scale? (Never had scale before, and I’m hoping this isn’t my first time.)

Before I read your post, my first thought looking at the photos was scale. Can you scrape them off or are they part of the leaf?
@stephonicle it scrapped off pretty easily!
