Help! What's wrong with my Strawflower?!#strawflower #pla...
I got this beauty a couple of weeks ago, I haven't had any issues. She was repotted after I got her as her roots were busting out of her nursery pot. Everything has been good, did I underwater her? I wait to let her dry out before watering, she has a companion marigold, could that be the issue?
I live in central FL, my plants live on my front porch, I religiously move them to the back everyday for full sun for all that need it.

Hi @ShireBlackByrd
I donβt have this plant, but now I want one! So cute! πΈ
From the pic, to me at least, it looks good. Are you finding that itβs getting brown edges or something?
I did a Google search and found these tips that may be helpful: (My thoughts/suggestions are in parentheses.) π
Care for strawflowers
-Mulch plants well to help retain moisture (this has been really helpful with my outdoor potted plants as they dry out so fast)
-Water the root zone completely each time you water and then allow the top inch or two of soil to dry out between watering. (Sounds like finding balance between not letting them dry out completely and not overwatering is key. If you check the soil with your finger and find it dry in the top two inches, sounds like when to water.)
-Do not let roots get soggy; they will rot.
-Apply an organic fertilizer occasionally throughout the growing season
-Cut the main stem when the flower is 4-6 inches (10-15 cm) tall to encourage branching.
-Keep spent flowers deadheaded to encourage more blooms.
Hope this is helpful!! Keep me posted. π
I hope to grow one of these as well when it gets warmer up here! πͺ΄πΈπ
