Butterfly Bush needs help
Help! I purchased this little butterfly bush 2 weeks ago and it is dying. I had it planted in the ground but she started looking like this after about a week so I transplanted to a pot to nurse her back. Used organic miracle grow when planted in pot. It is the north east side of our house but gets 6 hours of afternoon sun. Watered every morning. We just had rain all day yesterday so the soil is wet. Suggestions?
Please don't move her again. The problem you are seeing is shock.
Each time you replant and repot it add extra shock. This shock ands up and combines, increasing the amount of time it will take for recovery.
Tip to recover from shock.
1. Water less they don't drink as much
2. Do not fertilize during shock it will burn their roots.
3. Protect her from harsh sun and elements it can further shock her if you have a protected covered porch use that.
When she recovers you can plant her again. But ease her into the sun slowly to acclimate her.
Day 1&2 2 hours
Day 3&4 4 hours
Etc.
Most nurseries have greenhouses where they are protected. The change in climates can be extreme so it's not unusual for them to shock. But acclimating can help you avoid it in the future
