Not an expert, I've only had one for less than a year but I know these plants have a shallow root system so if you're bottom watering it's possible the roots aren't getting enough water. It's one of the few plants that I top water.

Also, I don't see any rhizomes - does it have any?

Thanks for your help. No, I don't think it does have rhizomes. I water from the top and let the water run through.
