I’ve got fungus gnats in three different pothos🥲

My neon, golden, and my marble queen all have fungus gnats. So my question is, would yall repot all three?

Someone told me they’ll always have fungus gnats and to just keep sticky traps in them, but surely you are able to get rid of them and use preventatives like neem oil or Castile soap to keep them at bay right?

Anyways, mainly just asking opinions of what yall would do in my situation.

(Photo of my sop for attention and because I can’t find any of my pothos right now😭)
4ft to light, direct
6” pot with drainage

First of all, you’re going to want to cut back on watering. Only water once your pot gets completely dry. Fungus gnats are attracted to damp soil. They can fly in through a window, but most often you get them because they are in the soil of new plants OR they’re already in bagged soil that you use. So treating and quarantining new plants until you know there arent any left in the soil is good practice.

You can catch the adults with traps, but can also do a soil drench, when it IS watering time, to kill the larvae. Good examples of a drench that won’t hurt your plants include 1 part 3% hydrogen peroxide to 10 parts water, or there’s a BT bacterium that’ll do it too (it’s the same stuff as what is in mosquito dunks) it goes after caterpillars, larvae etc type things. I use hydrogen peroxide as my big guns, but don’t continue to use it for long periods of time because it kills off the good with the bad. Don’t use them at the same time because the hydrogen peroxide will kill off the BT. You can make a “tea” out of mosquito bits, but i prefer to use a liquid product that @Ponytailmom recommended me. I’ll find the link.

Also good job using your SOP as “bait,” so to speak, because you got me! 😂 I definitely tapped on your post thinking, “well THAT isn’t a pothos!”

@DreamMachine thank you for your response! In the last month and a half or so I’ve definitely been cutting back on my watering, so much so I let the leaves sort of droop to try and discourage larvae reproduction. It’s helped but not gotten rid of them lol.

I will definitely try the mosquito bits next time I get paid! I’ve got my pothos all quarantine together in my bathroom lol.

I figured I’d get a few with my sop photo🙊😂
