Recovery from Ringbarking?

Someone ringbarked my damn stupid macadamia tree and now it's both suckering and also looking a bit ill.

Has anyone dealt with Ringbarking before? Is there a way to recover from this or is my tree just doomed to die?

(I have my suspicions as to who did it but am sure it was not done deliberately)

Hey, Selphie. Im so sorry to hear about this! How deep is it?

Im wondering if it isn't too deep if you can make a "bandaid" for the tree with sphagnum moss and cloth?

I love the name of your tree and I'm sorry it's suffering.

Maybe also, if it isn't too deep, using some kind of horticultural wax (it might not be the right word but that black stuff that's used to seal a cut tree).
It's pretty deep. When it stops raining, I'll try your solution as I have a lot of spagnum moss. Hopefully it will work. With the rain going on maybe it might revive maybe.

Here's hoping.

It's a pretty young tree and the Ringbarking is most of the way around, but there's still a small bit of unmarred bark.
@selphietrabia we get deer and they do a number on the young trees. I've lost a few but they haven't been my favorites so live and let die.
