Pothos propagation
Morning everyone.
About 4 weeks ago I decided to give my marble and golden pothos a trim and progate the spare leaves.
Each has a node in water which I change every few days.. they sit in a kitchen window but I donβt seem to be getting any growth.. I have one that has been in longer than 4 weeks that has one long root from the node but the others arenβt budging..
Where am I going wrong or am I just impatient π©

just gotta be patient! i know itβs a different plant, but iβve been propagating my chinese evergreen in water and it sits behind my TV in a north facing window, i leave it alone and top up the water once every 1-2 weeks, i also use fertilizer and ive finally gotten some roots after 2/3 months (chinese evergreens are extremely slow growing), i thought i was doing something wrong too until i noticed the roots last night π so like i said, just got to be patient!
@SuperblyLilac No I havenβt yet, I will add some on my next water change π
It take a little while for sure! I had a jar of cuttings that took over a month to show any growth. Not sure if this is a no-no, but I ended up scratching off the outer brown shell of the nodes after three weeks of sticking it in water, and saw faster results in root growth after that. Good luck! πͺ΄
Welcome to the Greg community Kirsty.
Your little props look healthy. Suggestion with the water, traps water has too many chemicals that may harm your cuttings. Use distilled, rain or reverse osmosis water. Pothos produces a water soluble growth hormone, so shouldn't need any rooting powder etc. Place them in an east facing window. The nodes, I circled one in the pic, should be in the water, they'll produce roots in time.

Good Morn, @TirelessCarrot ... a month is usually enough time for #epipremnum to root however, that's "usually," some can take 5-6 weeks if they're just having a slow process. Patience with Planting is always necessary π€·π½ββοΈ
I don't typically root Golden Pothos and Marble Queen Pothos in water because there's no real need to root them in water then acclimate them to soil, they root down in soil well naturally. But to give your plant clippings a rooting boost, drop a few sprinkles of Cinnamon in your water. When You change your water, remember to re-add it.
Are You using room temperature or lukewarm water?
πΏ Good Luck! πΏ

@ProudlyPeyote I disagree. Putting these directly into soil will increase the likelihood that theyβll fail due to root rot. Rooting in water develop more roots that are east to monitor, and that have lots of access to oxygen.
