Make sure your pot always has drainage, terracotta is best for succulents.
It’s better to underwater succulents then over watering them.
Echeveria specifically need lots of sun to thrive.
Cactus soil with added perlite is idea for them.

Late to the party but wanted to chime in on the sun piece. You’ll know if your PVN is getting enough sun by its color. Attaching three photos of mine, you can see how green (and dehydrated) it was when I got it (not enough sun) and the change to lovely shades of purple and pink after being under an intense grow light.

Also see the growth—PVN can grow quite fast when happy! (Similarly responsive echeveria include E. subsessilis and E. ‘Afterglow’. Mentioning in case you find that you like the PVN. 😉)

P.S. just in case since you mention being new: the dusty coating is farina and protects the plant from sunburn. It does not regrow and should be left untouched if possible.
