This isnโ€™t bad, right?

So for a few months Iโ€™ve been trying to take care of a redwood sapling, and recently itโ€™s been kinda giving up on me. So I hypothesized that it might be my drier climate thatโ€™s upsetting him, and have been covering him with a DIY humidity dome. Just today, I noticed a little sprout coming out of the ground! How is that possible? Itโ€™s not bad, right? It just amazed me, and I wanna make sure itโ€™s not symptomatic of something terrible lol #NewGrowth #Trees humiditylovers">#humiditylovers

That is really cool๐Ÿ˜„ But it is possible that the sprout is from a stray seed and not necessarily the redwood๐Ÿ™ˆ
But I would definitly keep it and replant it when it gets bigger to see what it turns in to๐Ÿ˜„๐ŸŒฑ

I'm sorry about your redwood though. It might have been overwatered? That pot looks pretty big for that little plant.๐Ÿชด
@MockingJay Thanks so much for letting me know! It was a little hard finding a pot for my redwood, cuz he had a really big root system for some reason? But I definitely didnโ€™t even think about the overwatering, heโ€™s just been feeling so dry to the touch :( thanks again!
@KeenGrugrupalm I see!
Yeah that is why recognizing overwatering might be so hard at times. Because the symptoms are often very similar to underwatering๐Ÿ™ˆ As the roots are drowning they don't manage to pull up water and it basicaly thirsts to death in both ways๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ And as we see the leaves drying we like to give them even more water, just adding to the problem๐Ÿ™ˆ
That is why drainage is so important too, as it might be standing water at the bottom even when the top soil feels dry๐Ÿชด
