#FishboneCactus

I bought this cactus from a local nursery that had an end of season sale on houseplants. This poor guy was a rescue. He was dry and wrinkled but after a repot and some new soil he’s plumped right up. There was a shoot coming out the soil when I repotted him that I thought was a new shoot but now I’m not sure. The leaves are not succulent thick but it’s kinda wavy so I’m not sure if I should pull it. Can anyone tell me if this is a fishbone pup?

They are a type of succulent that gets its name from its unique, flat, segmented stems that resemble fishbones. The new growth you see is indeed a pup. Pups are baby plants that grow from the base of the mother plant. You can leave the pup attached to the mother plant or carefully remove it and pot it up separately. If you choose to remove it, make sure to use a well-draining cactus or succulent potting mix.
