How is she doing now? These are epiphytic like air plants, so they are accustomed to growing on something else instead of in a pot with soil. I know Tennessee gets plenty of humidity (I’m originally from Nashville) so I wouldn’t think that’s as much of a problem as long as you are using a humidifier or spritzing them with water when humidity is low. Mount it on something and see if she does better.

I actually just bought some small pallet looking wall mounts for mine. Wrap the base in sphagnum moss, secure the base to the mount with twine or fishing line and nails and let her do her thing!
I used to have a staghorn, and I’m eventually gave it up. It’s sooooo sensitive to low humidity. So in winter, when you’re mechanically heating your home, you’re essentially making the air in your home dryer. If little Terra isn’t sprayed every day or near a humidifier, dry winters will affect it! So be patient. It may rebound now that spring has sprung and humidity becomes easier to manage. Or it may not… like mine didn’t…
@TopMonoceritos thanks! He is a little better now outside. I should probably mount him before winter.
@PrizeGuanacaste I am happy to hear that he is doing better! They do seem to be very finicky and I have noticed that only three fronds on all four of mine tend to look healthy at any given point (the 4th fronds always seems to get brown and crispy, then eventually, fall off). With some time, consistent humidity and monitoring, I think he will continue to grow and look healthier.

If you are on the fence about how to mount (or want something that is more affordable), I bought some cheaper pallet looking boards from Amazon, sphagnum moss, clear fishing line, and brass escutcheon pins. It wasn’t extremely expensive and the pallet type mount gives you flexibility for using the boards and fishing line to keep the moss in place to provide that base for moisture the plant needs. I found a great tutorial on YouTube for mounting mine this way.

If you don’t want to deal with the pins and fishing line, then you can also find some decent acrylic pieces that help keep the plant and moss in place on a board. I am happy to help if you ever have questions even though I am by no means an expert!

Thanks for the update!!
