gnats/fruit flies
please help! how do i get rid of gnats/fruit flies?? i’m not quite sure what they are, but they seem to love my plants and they look like little wee fruit flies. i’ve tried apple cider vinegar traps and that seems to help, but they’re getting worse by the day. i’ve also tried cinnamon on the soil of my plants but that hasn’t really seemed to help.
thank you for your help!!!🤍

They are likely fungus gnats. If so, there are a variety of different things you can try. Yellow sticky traps, light/sticky trap combo, and/or neem oil spray help with the adults. Neem oil spray, mosquito bits, and/or systemic granules help with the eggs/larvae. These are things I’ve used successfully. I’ve also heard a peroxide/water mix can get rid of them too, but not tried it. Cinnamon can help a little by help killing fungus and deters them a little by the smell. Fungus and root rot usually caused by overwatering is what attracts them, so don’t overwater your plants. Good luck, it can be a long battle! Bottom watering can help to keep them away as well since the top layer of soil usually stays dry and you tend to overwater less with that method. I’ve included pics of everything but the mosquito bits.
Hi! I am also having this problem this year! We usually have a few but it’s so many it was getting out of control.
Here are some tips we have done. Buy some zevo traps to plug in the walls. Keep doing the vinegar traps with sugar and dawn soap. Buy a electric fly zapper that looks like a tennis racket and go around the house and start zapping! We have also put bleach down the drains and close them at night. I hope this helps!
