False Christmas Cactus

I got this plant last year and it hasnโ€™t bloomed anymore since its was gifted to me. When do these plants typically bloom? It was so Perry last year and I figured it would bloom in the winter #helpneeded #FalseChristmasCactus
3ft to light, indirect
6โ€ pot with drainage

Hi! Thanksgiving cactus need typically 12 hours of darkness and sub 60 temperatures to start budding. I keep mine outdoors to help it set the buds. Hope this helps!
@FeMonet33 I was given mine 2 years ago (so this is the 3rd winter I've had it) and, of course, when I got it, it was covered in buds and blooms that immediately fell off when I got it home. They don't like sudden, unexpected changes in their environment especially when they have buds!
So last winter, I read up on how to get it to bloom again. Dark, cold spot for 12-16 hours a day, blah, blah, blah. All it did was wear and stress me out moving it all the time. Not a single bud formed!
This year, the first coldsnap we got caught me unprepared and I hastily put it into my garden storage shed just to get it out of the elements. Within a couple weeks, it was COVERED in buds and now has several blooms opened and more coming!
Moral of the story: we don't decide when they bloom, they do! But in general they won't bloom the first year after you bring it home.
Hope this helps and maybe entertained you a bit ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™‚
Hi Felisha, another opinion here!

Lighting and temp do play roles here. Personally, I move mine away from any direct light starting by Thanksgiving at the latest. I can't remember to move it back and forth to more darkness, and too many changes will cause it to lose buds so I find a happy medium of one move to less light gets me some blooms and that's good enough for now.
These plants definitely can be persnicity. I have one whose flowers actually changed colors from bright pink to yellow go figure. It will definitely give more blooms with the light dark pattern of care. Also you can use shultzs african violet fertilizer every time you water to encourage stronger healthier and plentiful blooms
@Stall54Jo Good to know about the Shultz AV fertilizer!
This is mine at the moment - February in England, indoors, room temp kept to about 20c, on a windowsill facing Southeast. It flowers every year around this time. We moved recently, and it has those pesky soil flies, so it's not at its best but still budding. Good luck with yours!
