@Pittardplants Hi Kristy , To prep your plant for next season cut it back flush with the soil . If it happens that you have pests be sure to cut it back outside . If you had it in the ground it would come back too . So no matter where you store the bulb or tube it will pop back next year . Good luck
@ILoveMyPlants so I should cut back the whole plant literally to the ground? All the green to be cut off?
The foliage is what helps the plant bloom for next year, cutting it all the way back is definitely going to reset the growth but if that is a pest infestation then thatβs probably your best bet since the pests will eventually take it down anyway. Normally you would βdeadheadβ the plant cutting the spent flowers at the base of the stem and leave the rest of the green growth should be enough for next season.
I agree with Ethan 100% kinda looks like aphids to me. Iβd first wipe it down take it outside and plant it in the ground. Lily bulbs are surprisingly hardy. I have several different varieties growing in my backyard. If no one buys them in the floral shop I take them home and pant them. Cutting the leaves off will stunt the Bulbs growth for next blooming season but if kept inside in a pot it will be stunted anywayβ¦. Iβd try to get rid of the pests before I cut it back.
