Leaves dying slowly, not growing

I have had this birds nest fern (correct name?) for about a year. Placed it in a nook by south facing kitchen window- not direct light but indirect light all day. Leaves just have slowly browned and died and there was never new growth since i got it. A few leaves are hanging on- can it be saved?
1ft to light, indirect
4” pot without drainage

Mine died too. I realized too late that it has very shallow roots and was in too deep a pot so the soil stayed too wet. I hope you can revive yours.
@Karah86 so sorry about yours as well. thank you, i havent heard of shallow roots before (im still a novice) so that is good to know to watch for. I’ll try repotting with better drainage and check the roots. Thanks again!
Improper watering is generally the cause of browning leaves. The soil should be moist most of the time, not wet and not dry. Too dry is bad and soggy soil causes root rot. Good drainage is important. Hope your plant improves. 🥰
@Pegster usually i am an under-waterer, but i guess i made up for it all on this poor plant. We’ll see if i can re-pot and do better:) thank you!!
