Should I just put my strawberry plant out of her misery?
My mom gave this plant to me a couple of weeks ago, Iβve never had a strawberry plant so Iβm not sure what Iβm doing wrong here π₯²
She was pretty and green when given the me, now it looks dead dead. It has indirect light from a grow light nearby and gets watered every 1-2 weeks.

Assuming pests arenβt the issue (take a close look on the top and especially undersides of the leaves), it probably needs to be closer or under a stronger grow light.
My strawberry plants always thrived under direct sunlight, and while grow lights are amazing, Iβve found the plants that work best are ones that require indirect light, not direct. Another thing to note is many grow lights have different spectrums. Some focus on growing leaves, some focus on getting your plant to flower, and full spectrum works on both.
Iβm not sure what type of soil itβs planted in, but I always recommend earthworm castings as a natural fertilizer to help all plants thrive. The best part about it is you canβt over do it like some other fertilizers on the market.
Lastly, make sure you water from the bottom to encourage the roots to grow deep and strong. If the pot has drainage (which it should) you can pour a little into the dish itβs sitting in, and it will soak it up. Itβs also a good indicator of how thirst your plant is. If it soaks it up very quickly I typically keep refilling a bit at a time until it slows down, then Iβll check again in a few days.
Sorry for the novel, but hope it helps you! Best of luck getting Dorothy back in shape!
