how can i tell if my plant is getting what he needs?
i keep my bear with most my other plants on the porch and heβs not really grown at all, i just want to make sure heβs getting what he needs

These plants, like most succulents, are slow growers. We're also coming out of winter, which is their dormant season. It took close to a year before I started seeing any growth on mine (it's about 8" beneath strong full-spectrum grow lights for 10 hours a day). Because they store a lot of water in their thick fleshy leaves, they can go a while without watering, even when they get lots of direct sun, however I do see signs of sun stress on yours (the reddish splotches on a few leaves). You might need to move it out of direct sun during the hottest part of the day (mid-afternoon). Sun-stressed plants may not prioritize new growth.
