This is more of a suggestion rather than an answer to your solution... I think the plant is ready to be potted outdoors. Place a fence/barrier as the first thing what squirrel did was to break some branches off my plum tree sapling for its nest, 😂. And then the deer came by to claim it's meal.
I do not know which type I have, I got it from a family friend, but I think one is American plum (green leaves), another is plum-color leaves.
Also you might want to check if you have a mite' infection as it's very odd the way the leaves are on your plant. Thanks
