Help please! Is my cactus rooting and is it save able? I ...

#BlueColumnarCactus
Hi! Is the soil dry? Cacti like to be dry most of the time or they rot. If so, then that black spot could be a sunburn from too much light… depending what type it is, some cacti actually don’t like as much light as others, which i learned the hard way. But a sunburn is not a death sentence, it’s just unsightly. Hopefully it’s that, and you can just move it to indirect lighting. I’m not an expert with these though so I’m tagging a couple people who are more knowledgeable about cacti than I am 😊 @MockingJay @LittleSongbird
The soil is dry so I will move it away from the window I have it by.
Thank you
Is the black parts soft? It does look like rot I am afraid. Maybe some droplets have fallen on the crown, or it has been watered a little too much/often. If it hasn't been repotted the soil from the nursery might also hold on to too much water.
If it spreads more after you move it out of the sun you might have to consider to cut off the black parts to prevent it from spreading. Then at least the babies will manageπŸ‘

@MockingJay they look soft I haven't touched it. I am going to repot it and move it to a more shaded area.
