My tomato plants are dying :(
I live in a place with scorching heat and I genuinely think that’s the cause of it as they haven’t been watered in a while. Again I’m very new to gardening so I don’t know what to do…can anyone offer any advice please? They are growing tomatoes but they shrivel up and fall of the plant very quickly.
Tomatoes love heat and light, but it sounds like yours might want more water. From The Spruce:
“Water deeply and regularly while the fruits are developing. Irregular watering—missing a week and trying to make up for it—leads to blossom end rot (a calcium deficiency) and cracking and splitting.5 The rule of thumb is to ensure your plants get at least 1 to 1.5 inches of water per week, but during hot, dry spells, they may need more. If your plants start to look wilted for most of the day, give them a drink.
After the fruit begins to ripen, you can ease up on the watering. Lessening the water will coax the plant into concentrating its sugars, for better flavor. Use your judgment. Don’t withhold water so much that the plants continually wilt and become stressed or they will drop their blossoms and possibly their fruit.”

You could also try trimming off some of the lower leaves, and pinching new branches that start growing from where branches fork.

Plants need more regular watering if it’s in direct sun. Try watering every 2 days in the morning. I would chuck the branches that you know won’t recover so the plant can focus on the healthier parts of the plant. Try moving it in some shade temporarily until you doctor it up and your plants recover. Hope this helps!

Yes, it could be the heat where you live. I agree with @AnderZoo, it looks like your plants need more water as well.
I personally never had good luck growing tomatoes here in NJ.
First of all, since we have a lot of deer here, they just eat the plants. 😂🦌
I’ve tried mesh fences around my tomato plants both in the ground and in pots.
And secondly, our tomatoes don’t taste very good, they normally come out meally tasting. I really don’t know if it’s our weather, or the soil here in NJ.
I wish you luck with your tomato plants!
