Could I behead and repot this?

My cat took it upon himself to rectify a leggy succulent by knocking it over. It snapped above the root ball into the picture I’ve attached. Could I cut down the stem to just the top and replant that? If so, how? Thank you!

You could actually replant both pieces and get new plants! The stem part that was previously in the ground, just replant it in a pot with good drainage and your succulent mix. It should start growing new leaves again. Water sparingly until it takes rooot. Succulents are pretty forgiving, and this variety is pretty easy to grow. For the top piece that broke off, set it out where it continues to get indirect light but simply laying on a counter or a paper towel for a couple of weeks. What you want is for the bottom of the stem to dry out. Don’t water it at all during this time. Maybe even three weeks. After it’s good and dry you can insert the stem just barely into the soil, and it should start rooting within a couple of weeks. It may even sprout roots before you replant it! Water sparingly until it really takes root and then you’ll have a lovely second plant.
Thank you!!! Upon closer inspection there was a second break closer to the top so I cut it there. I will replant the bottom and let the cut piece sit out to dry along with the healthy leaves was able to save. One leaf had a root already and a little shoot so I planted that in soil! Thank you!!
The leaf that had a root!
Original plant! Wish us luck!
