That doesn’t look like a Maidenhair Vine to me. The leaves don’t look right. But, it could be my inexperience. I have several different “strings” and that’s just how they grow. There is a clue in the name “vine” or “string”I could be wrong but these just aren’t vertical plants.You can get a moss pole to train it to grow upwards.
