To repot or not?

I purchased a baby rubber plant a couple of weeks ago, and last week I noticed one of the stems had broken, and was brown and floppy around the break. I cut that stem to the dirt, and a coworker suggested that I repot it. But I am worried about causing it stress by repotting while it is struggling. Should I repot?

@CozyGuasca69 Do you have a picture? It’s usually best to propagate healthy cuttings…you say it was brown, is it mushy? How long was it like that before you noticed, do you think? If it’s mushy and brown, and it has been a moment in that condition, I would hesitate on propagating that piece. You could end up with a not-very-healthy propagated plant. But you could definitely take a fresh cutting, and propagate, if you wanted to try it out?
I don’t have a picture. I threw it away before I thought about it. But I am not thinking about propping, I was asking about repotting.
