Purple coneflower/echinacea with brown and light leaves

Does anyone have any idea why some of these leaves are browning and some are really light green and splotchy? does this mean they shouldn’t be harvested? Do they need more nitrogen ? #AskGreg #HappyPlants #Echinacea #coneflower #herbs #herbalism #help

@KikiGoldblatt Thanks for the tag! @MollyMoon When I was growing herbs in my backyard, sometimes I’d get fungal outbreaks and I’d have to spray with tons of systemics that I decided to scrap everything away 😅

I’m sure you can help yours but looks like some type of fungal infection. Unsure how to fix, though.
@MollyMoon I wished I knew the answer to your question. Maybe our queer @kscape might have some ideas.
@RJG any ideas
@KikiGoldblatt unfortunately I've never grown this so I don't know for sure.

The flower is very pretty!
Hey Molly! Echinaceas bloom through August so it may just be winding down for the year, but some of these photos almost look like thrips damage. Can you share close up photos of the undersides of a few leaves?

In general, I’d caution against harvesting/consuming any plant tissue that looks like it may have any sort of infection. Always better to be safe!
Maybe my copper fungicide will help, I’ll also try some food just in case it’s low on nitrogen. Cut them back and hope for another crop to harvest before winter!
@Kiersten I’ll go out later today to get a pick of the underside, the flowers don’t look affected at all so maybe I’ll let them bloom and just harvest those and avoid the stems and leaves this year
The holes are definitely the grasshopper infestation we have but I’m mostly concerned with the discoloration which is somewhat lumpy
@Kiersten here are the undersides of the leaves and then one close up of the discoloration right side up
