So had this plant for a week I water the plant as well as give it the sunlight required seem like it’s dying and not sure what to do  what are my steps from here

Get some bamboo skewer stick it in the plant pull it out if it has dirt on it don't water it. If no dirt water it. You might want to take it out the pot and check on the roots. Make sure there is no root rot.

That’s a bird of paradise. If you’ve only had it a week, it hasn’t even fully adapted to its environment yet. It’s really not uncommon for plants like this to get moody while traveling or being moved. Every time you move your plants, they experience stress. So I’d make sure it’s got enough of a drink. It doesn’t look like it’s got an infection to me. But clip back the dead and let it rest in a good, bright window and just observe it for a little while before rushing into anything would be my advice. Don’t repot it. Don’t water it more if you have. Just let it adjust.
