I don't know if its appropriate here, but I've been introducing some plants to worm casting, aka poop. Slow release, nitrogen-rich, impossible to burn the plants. What's not to love? Work into the soil or top dress soil with ¾" or so. I'm seeing results, especially foliage plants. I boost phosphorus on blooming houseplants in a different manner.
