Help on where to cut!

Husband snuck a baby #ChineseEvergreen #sparklingsarah into the house as an early Valentines present. (Yes he’s married, back off.) πŸ€ͺ He’s actually already gotten a refund because the poor thing arrived as a hot mess.

roots look good and I plan to really examine it tomorrow (and maybe repot) because #WhenInDoubtWhipItOut (of the pot). And I see green shoots but gods only know what kind of stuff is in this soil….

Anyway, assuming the roots are good, where should I chop lil miss princess?
3ft to light, indirect
3” pot with drainage
Last watered 2 years ago
Oh my word, that’s so sad! I’m going to let more experienced choppers answer your actual question because πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ πŸ™ƒ
Ah! It looks like this plant may have frozen. You’ll want to cut down as far as it takes so you don’t see any brown in the center of the stem. For this guy that may be at or even below the soil line. Feel free to send pics while you work and we can chime in!
What @Kiersten said! Good luck and keep us updated!
@Kiersten hey! So I chopped a bit at the time, it’s actually still green and alive halfway down. I stopped here. Good?
Aaaand this picture sucks but you get the idea 🀣
@Gingerlymom thanks for the tag! Unfortunately I know basically nothing about this particular plant...
It should be able to grow from there β€” keep us posted!!
Hi Sarah, I just saw this and wanted to say this happened to my philodendron Congo when I moved from Denver to San Antonio.πŸ‘‹πŸ» A friend told me about Liqui-Dirt (on Amazon) and I have new little shoots and leaves after about six weeks. Maybe give it a try while you search for a replacement. Good luck!
@Momof83ans thanks! And welcome to San Antonio! I hear it’s full of really amazing people πŸ˜‰ #SouthCentralTexasGang #SanAntonioGregGang #SanAntonioGregMeetup
