The center looks like it still has the dried up flower? Perhaps over the last few months small amounts of water accumulated under the flower that affected the surrounding leaves eventually causing them to die off. I’d be tempted to carefully pick off any dry crispy leaves and flowers. See if new growth can come up πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ It seems to me that it’s in too big a pot for a succulent of that size. Too big a pot, with more soil than the plant needs, will hold more water and moisture than the succulent can process. Could lead to root rot. My guy’s in a 2” pot which allows his bottom leaves proper air circulation and keeps them away from the soil/ moisture. Phoenix may not be getting enough light. 3 feet to light isn’t much for succulents. It says he’s got a grow light. Do you know how many Foot Candles its emitting?
If a succulent...to much water πŸ˜’
What throws me a little is that the center is wilted and a bit crispy. I had not watered this plant for 30 days and it was completely dry. I let it drain completely after I watered it. Trying to figure out what I did wrong. It bloomed beautifully in December.
@RadCalethea50 Usually overwatering makes the plant squishy and not crispy.. you may need to consider other things such as temperature, soil mix, potential pests, and the amount of light the plant receives. Has there been any other changes to your plant lately such as moving it to a new spot?
The same thing happened to me in a pot where one plant is doing just fine and the other one just crumbled away.
Thank you, that is very helpful. I removed the flower and the crispy leaves. Phoenix is in the same place he has always been, but I only got him last December. The grow light he is about three feet from says it is 2500 Lumens full spectrum plant growing light. I could repot him into a smaller pot.
