Your getting great advice from @AuroraPlants @NewbieSprout @Hoyaobsessed
Your plant has been overwatered and the damaged dark section on the leaves surrounded by yellow is a sign of a disease called bacterial leaf spot. π But donβt worry Erika, this disease is the same as saying it has a common cold, but if its left untreated it can develop into something more serious that will actually kill your plant.
π¦Overwatering a plant not only will cause this bacteria or fungal leaf spot disease, but it will also cause root rot and sometimes pest infestation.
π· Quarantine this plant away from the other plants in your oasis. Because similar to a common cold this disease is contagious.
βοΈ Use sterilize scissors to remove the damage/diseased leaf.
π₯ Spray the leaves with Neem Oil and follow the direction on the bottle.
π§I highly recommend using the finger-soil method to determine if the top inch (the 1st knuckle) of your plant soil is completely dry. If the soil feels completely dry, your plant is telling you itβs thirsty. π This low tech method is more accurate than any high tech moisture meter. π This method will also help you quickly adjust to your plants decreasing water requirements in the fall-winter.

π¦Overwatering happens to everyone who grows plants. When I see the first signs of this disease, I allow my soil to dry out a little more than usual and spike its drink π with 1-2 teaspoons of 3% hydrogen peroxide per cup of water. This will eliminate any pathogens in the soil and since it purifies your soil, repotting your plant in fresh potted soil becomes unnecessary or an optional. But, if your soil is too soggy wet, you may have to repot your plant.
