Because these plants are jerks and donβt want to live anywhere but the tropics! Or to state it better, stores are jerks for selling them to us knowing they wonβt make it more than a few months. Best bet is give it a humidifier and some good light. Seriously, donβt feel bad. This is one of the harder indoor plants to keep happy!
@MamaLinne lol how can you say that palms are pretty much some the oldest trees in the world and are from the desert some still alive that are hundreds of not 1000s years old.
Kind of like naturally getting greys it happens itβs not ugly. Itβs not bad. Itβs not unhealthy. In fact itβs beautiful and it just part of life.

Just make sure it has well draining soil that doesnβt get water logged βbeaches & desertsβ palm heavens sandly loamy soil.
& I bet itβs root bound. Almost all palms are root bound in my experiences. No matter the size? For some reason. I heard somewhere that the longest leaf on a palm tree and the root can be twice that long. Iβm not sure if itβs true but yes, they grow lots of roots οΏΌοΏΌ

@OhGollyItsJolly so do I have hope? I just clipped all the brown leaves off. Sprayed a solution of vinager and water i saw some sort of slime on the leaves leaves
@SapientPepper2 if the container has no drainage, you need to pull it out of the pot immediately. Repot it into something with holes If itβs roots are rotting/soft or smelly, you need to make a one part 3% hydrogen peroxide and two part water solution and water it. After cutting all the bad off.
As counterintuitive as that sounds hydrogen peroxide is water with one extra molecule of oxygen in it so the added oxygen in the water will help the roots actually breathe and may save it From rotting & help it dry out. οΏΌοΏΌ if this is what youβre having problem with if something else is going on, please explain I misunderstood. οΏΌ

@SapientPepper2 thereβs always hope but sometimes if rotting has started, itβs too late.
