Just water it when it needs to be watered and mark it watered in the app. Over time the app will start to learn. On the flip side, if it tells you to water a plant but the soil is still damp, click the snooze button. The app's reminders should be used as suggestions more than anything. Always check/feel the soil to see how dry/wet it is before watering.
