Is my Honey Locust Dying?
Iβve been growing this #honeylocust from seed for several months now and itβs been doing great. Recently its leaflets have been turning yellow and dropping. I read that it might be lacking nutrients so I gave some fertilizer. Iβve been very conservative with watering so I doubt itβs from overwatering. Could it be from lack of sunlight or something? Or is it just dropping its leaves for the fall? Any ideas what might be happening/ is this bad would be appreciated! Thanks ππΌ

@jtizzle Thatβs a relief! I would still wipe it off just to be safe. With that possibility out of the way, I would consider soil pH and temperature next as watering and pests seem to be out of the picture. This plant likes full sun and a pH of 6.0-8.0 (neutral, slightly acidic, or slightly alkaline)
@jtizzle How wet is the soil? That the reason for most of my leaf dripping episodes- I would wait until it is almost completely dry before watering it again and make sure it is getting some really bright FILTERED light. Good Luck!πͺ΄
@Ponytailmom I just watered yesterday so itβs wet right now, but I only water when itβs mostly dry
@jtizzle feel the leaves for anything sticky (honeydew), check underneath leaves or in crevasses for buggers, and check for irregular damage. (like little scars or stressed areas on leaves from hungry little mouths..) I think the spots Iβm seeing in the image may be bugs. Try dabbing one with a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol and see if it turns yellow and/or shrivels up. Thatβs an easy way to spot camouflaged pests! Make sure to separate this plant from any others too.
