I recently got a fern along with pothos. Can someone tell...

I am thinking of keeping the plant in black pot itself( it is how I received it in package). Or maybe will add some more soil if needed. I am not sure if it needs more soil.
And then would keep black pot inside white container, since black pot has drainage, excess water would be collected in white pot.
Also what is best possible way to grow ferns and take care of them? #ferncommunity #fern #howtogrowferns #begineer

You can keep it in the black pot if you want just keep in mind if you use the outer white pot that has no drainage make sure it is NEVER sitting in water. Otherwise you will end up with root rot.

Keep in mind the do love humidity so if she start getting brown tips and losing fronds that is why. They usually stay happy for a month or two before the effects of the low humidity set in.

I keep mine in reptile terrariums but I will give you some tips on how to increase humidity to try.

Ways to add humidity

1. Add a humidifier, but only use distilled water in it.

2. Add a pebble tray filled with water below your plant. But make sure the pot is never in the water. As water evaporates it increases humidity.

3. Cluster plants together. It will make water evaporate from your leaves in a process called transpiration. It effectively creates a mini microclimate with extra humidity.

Never mist, it does not increase humidity but will cause fungal and bacterial infections.
@ChicMastic84 yout setup sounds great for drainageโ€”keeping the black pot with holes inside a decorative outer container is a smart move! ๐ŸŒฟ If the soil level seems low or roots are showing at the top, you can definitely top it off with more fresh potting mix. @CostaFarmsTeam tagging you here in case you have any additional fern care tips to share ๐ŸŒฑโœจ
A double pot combination is great! Pull out the grow pot to water your fern. The grow pot has drainage holes and all the excess can drain out. Bright, indirect light, natural light will keep you fern happy ๐Ÿชดโ˜€๏ธ
@CostaFarmsTeam my recently got fern plant started to get black spot on its leaves. Also some other part of it, has started to dry.
@ChicMastic84 black spots are usually caused by excess moisture in the soil or direct sunlight. Make sure the pot drains out all the excess water after watering. Also that it gets bright, indirect, natural light. Discard any water that may fall into the drip tray after watering
