Why is it yellow?
My sister has a Philodendron Birkin with stripes that are more yellow than white - any thoughts as to why? It seems healthy otherwise. My sister is a plant person so this is surprising both of us.
Light: 3 - 4 feet from east-facing window; grow light is 6-12 inches above.
Watering: every 2-3 weeks when mostly dry.
Potting medium: aroid mix.
drainage: yes; never left in standing water.
My guess is that it might need fertilizer/repotting as it hasn't been repotted in two years since it doesn't seem to need it yet.

Was it marketed as a normal birkin? Iβd suggest a good fertilizer- I use Happy Happy Houseplants but many on here love Foliage Pro. I fertilize with each watering with a diluted amount (about 1/3 the βmonthlyβ dose). The good fertilizers have all of the nutrients your plants need with no muss or fuss or ant attraction. π Many aroid soils are fantastic for philos, but donβt have nutrients in them, so you must fertilize with each watering. Birkins can also revert back to green (lose their white) without good enough lighting. After moving my birkin around, I also found it really likes high light for variegation and has now found a home in a southwest window with a grow light on top!

@MamaLinne hi Deb! It was marketed as a regular Birkin. I think it's possibly reverting and will suggest everyone's suggestions of fertilizer, repotting with fresh potting medium and increasing light.
Hi @ballondusoleil boiled banana water lacks nitrogen which is a critical nutrient. Also boiled banana water creates a sugary soup which attracts ants and fungus gnats. Also bananas unless organic are sprayed with pesticides which you then introduce to your houseplants. Composting bananas and other plant material would be better because then organisms have broken everything down to the point where our plants can actually utilize the nutrients. Or simply buy a fertilizer meant for houseplants. @MamaLinne 2 suggestions are great! π
